Through the development and implementation of innovative planning and zoning practices, Leander has been the recipient of many awards that have facilitated increased residential and commercial development within the city. As a result, Leander citizens have a number of new eating and retail establishments, and service providers available that didn’t exist here in 2003. Just to name a few, HEB Plus, Lowes, Kohl’s, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Starbucks, Subway, Children’s Courtyard, Walgreens, Auto Zone, O’Leander Café, IBC Bank, Austin Telco Credit Union, BlockBuster Video, Fantastic Sams, Twin Liquors, Post Net, Jack Brown Cleaners, Goddard School, Kingdom Kids, Chase Bank, etc. And that’s not even close to representing all of the new businesses that have opened their doors in Leander over the past nine years. These businesses have also provided additional employment opportunities for Leander citizens.
